HISTORY

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND THE ORIGINAL CHASSIS BUILDER AND RACERS

We need any help on the history. Who built it. Who raced it. It may be a Mike Rieger chassis of RRC Racing circa 1986. May be the “High Plains Drifter” T/F car?  DO YOU KNOW?

OUR HISTORY WITH THE RACE CAR: We originally purchased the car from Mike Green in Wylie, Texas in 2009.  He was vague on the history. But there was sticker ghosting on dash that read “Special thanks to Mike and Bill Ranney” and in the cockpit a hand painted lettering on the dash “SHERRI.”  The car has an aluminum body, chromoly 210″ hard tail chassis, fabricated 8-3/4 rear chromed, P&S front axle, very tight cage, Stickers on the car indicate competing at ATSCO Nationals Phoenix 1997, Mile high Nationals in Denver in 97, Winston Finals in Pomona 97’, Slick 50 Houston, TX 97 and also races in 96’.  Please keep in mind that the car color was red and we changed the car a bit. IE: added new cage, wing, body wrap, new wheels, etc.

We were able to locate some photos from the internet. This is how the race car looked when raced by Sheri Green of Grand Junction CO. in the 90’s

WE MAY BE GETTING A LITTLE CLOSER (?)

Latest information is that prior to Sheri Green racing it, it may have been raced by Carl Johnson and/or Glen Roe, in the Colorado area.

Possibly the chassis built by Jerry Fritz or Mark Williams circa early to mid 80’s.

First and foremost I would like to thank Mike Ranney of Fruita CO for his help on this mystery. He wrenched on this dragster in the 90’s before being recruited by Shirley Muldowney’s team.

We still would like to find the chassis builder and reach out to them. So, if anyone has a clue to send us in the right direction, that would be AWESOME!
